The Farr 3.7 is a single-handed trapeze boat designed in 1970 by Bruce Farr. It?s an ideal alternative to a Contender-class dinghy for a lighter weight sailor, with a more modern sail design that doesn?t require you to be a limbo champion to get through a tack. It handles heavy wind very gracefully and is a perfect boat for a light to mid-weight sailor (50 - 80kgs) looking for their first ?steer from the trapeze? boat.
This particular boat is a little slice of history, being one of a small number of fibreglass Farr 3.7?s built in Australia in the 1980?s. It has the original Bruce Farr design centreboard and rudder. Hull is a bit soft as you?d expect for a boat this old, but it still gets up and goes!
More information on the design is available from the NZ class association website: www.3-7class.org.nz and also at ukfarr37.blogspot.com
* New Ronstan RF7 swivelling cam-cleat on mainsheet
* One Dacron mainsail
* Near new alloy beach trolley - worth $600. NOTE: The "fat" wheels shown in the two overall photo's of the boat have been moved onto my new boat. The trolley will be sold with the narrower (but still very nice) wheels shown in the last photo. If you want a set of the fat wheels they can be purchased new from Dandenong Wheels and Castors (they're $160 a pair) and will slot straight on.
* Near new custom deck cover - would cost upwards of $600 to have made.
* All fittings in good working order. Standing rigging replaced 2 years ago, all lines less than two years old. Boat is ready to sail straight away - nothing to fix!
* Road trailer not included. I have a suitable trailer available (registered until June 2014) for $400 if you require it.
I occasionally travel up and down the Queensland coast. Depending on your location (and when you needed the boat) I may be able to deliver it for an agreed fee.
